One Dog Night, Mark Paffrath Returns to Door County for DCA Coffeehouse Concert, Mar 5

The fifth and final concert in the Door Community Auditorium’s Fireside Coffeehouse Concert Series features Mark Paffrath, a well-known and much-loved former member of one of Door County’s favorite bands.

The sweet vocal tones of Mark Paffrath will once again be heard in Fish Creek on Saturday, March 5 at 7 pm. Mark is not a native of Door County, but is nevertheless well-known by Door County audiences for his work with Marvin Dykhuis and most recently, for putting on a great solo show.

Pop/folk singer, songwriter and multi-instrumentalist, Mark Paffrath has been charming audiences for over twenty-five years. His control of vocal and instrumental skill is well-honed from years of performing. Mark has played everywhere one can imagine, from concert and festival stages to local bars and coffeehouses, all across the world. Though Mark is not fond of comparisons, his voice has been likened to that of Kenny Loggins, Dwight Yoakam, John Denver, and Lyle Lovett.

Mark has performed with numerous duos and bands over the length of his career, and many of these groups were native to Mark’s hometown of Racine, Wis. and the Milwaukee area. Paffrath & Dykhuis, Marvin & The Dogs, Moulin Rouge, Big Nick & The Cydecos, Willy Porter and Richard Holly are some of the groups and individuals with which Mark has shared the stage. He even enjoyed a touring stint of clubs and festivals in Germany with Racine native Don Owens for a few years in the seventies.

Mark is the recipient of a WAMI (Wisconsin Area Music Industry) Award for “Best Folk Artist” and was also nominated for the same award a few years later. His music has also been a favorite in the Racine Journal Times Readers Poll. Additionally, Mark was voted “Best Musician” in the Best of Racine County poll in 2003.

Mark currently performs as a solo artist, singing and playing guitar and mandolin. His performances include thoughtfully chosen interpretations and well-crafted originals full of genuine sensitivity and caring that are often rare in the music business.

A quote from Mark’s Website states, “a performance by Mark Paffrath may leave listeners a little more aware of the foibles of the human condition, the ironies of which life is made, and the difficulties and joys of living in this world but may also leave them feeling just a little bit better about their part in all of it.”
