Tour the Tug John Purves and Door County Maritime Museum, Scavenger Hunt and more on 2nd Annual Family Free Day, Nov 22

The Door County Maritime Museum and the Family Centers of Door County are jointly hosting their 2nd Annual Family Day celebration on Sunday, November 22, from 1 – 5 pm at the museum in Sturgeon Bay.

The two organizations launched the event last year and it proved to be a tremendous success as families were invited to tour the museum and participate in a variety of events. Designed to foster family fun and interaction for community members, Family Day is being staged to help celebrate National Family Week (November 22 – 28).

Numerous children’s activities are planned for a variety of ages. Tickets are free but, they must be reserved in advance, providing free admission to the Maritime Museum as well as tours of the Tug John Purves. Other activities include a scavenger hunt throughout the museum, story time and an assortment of craft projects. Refreshments will also be provided.

Advance tickets are available by calling either the Maritime Museum at 920.743.5958. Reservations are strongly recommended by Friday, November 20, to ensure admission and must include at least two generations of family members.

The Family Center has provided family-oriented programming in Door County since 1998 while the Maritime Museum has been preserving the county’s rich nautical past for 40 years through it museums at Sturgeon Bay and Gills Rock and its historical interpretation efforts at the Cana Island Lighthouse.
