The Hardy Gallery

The Hardy Gallery is known throughout the community as the premier gallery focusing on Door County and regional artists. The gallery offers a highly visible and accessible space for artists to exhibit their work to a national and international audience.  In addition, the Juried Exhibit gives emerging artists an opportunity to gauge their development and established artists the opportunity to explore new ideas and techniques. All artwork chosen for inclusion in the exhibit is selected through a process of careful deliberation among a diverse panel of five jurors, all of who are active arts professionals in Northeast Wisconsin.

“This is a tremendous opportunity for artists of all skill levels and experience to have work viewed by thousands of visitors,” says Elizabeth Meissner-Gigstead, Executive Director of the Hardy Gallery.

A unique component of the Juried Exhibit is the annual Wall-to-Wall Salon, a weeklong exhibit comprised of all the artwork submitted for the annual juried exhibit.  This event officially launches the 2010 season at a kick-off party on Saturday, May 29 from 5:30 pm to 7 pm.  The public is invited to attend and is encouraged to cast votes for their favorite pieces with the popular “People’s Choice Award.”  Attendees may vote for their favorite work by donating $5 per vote.  The “People’s Choice Award” winner is determined on the basis of donations collected and is not awarded on artistic merit and will be included in the final juried exhibition regardless of juror selection.  This is a fun way to show support for the Hardy — please plan to attend!  In 2009, over 750 patrons visited the Wall-to-Wall Salon to cast votes for their favorite piece.
