The upcoming 15th Annual Amish Quilt and Holiday Craft Show will be held at Mr. G’s Hall on Hwy. 57 just south of Jacksonport, Thursday through Sunday, October 4 through 7 from 9 am to 5 pm.
Over 80 traditional Amish quilts in a variety of popular styles, patterns and colors will be featured at the 15th annual Door County show. All of the quilts are for sale and new ones are arriving daily. All of the quilting is done entirely by hand in the traditional Amish manner. Full-sized quilts and baby quilts, as well as queen and king-sized quilts, will be on display. The quilts are presented either on a full queen or king-sized display bed and will be turned on a regular basis for show goers to enjoy. Gloves are always worn to protect the stunning quilts from being handled by the public and are turned for viewing by show employees.
This event is much more than a quilt show. It includes many other handcrafted Amish gift items for the family and home. In addition to the quilts, a wide selection of Amish-made wall hangings in a variety of sizes, patterns and colors are also on hand. Pillows, table runners, place mats, pot holders, table centers, quillows, spice mats, rugs, Amish dolls, miniature quilts and many other interesting gifts, handcrafted by the Amish will also be on display and for sale. A wide selection of beautifully made Amish baskets in a wide variety of shapes and sizes will also be for sale.
Books on quilting patterns and Amish quilt trends are available, as well as several Amish recipe books and a variety of excellent paper-backed books highlighting the many aspects of Amish life. There will be two tables with prepackaged fabric for sale. Everyday patterns, seasonal and holiday fabric will be available. Some packages will contain several complementary fabrics. Complete pattern kits will also be available.
Over 20 tables will feature a variety of other gift items. Table displays will include a children’s table with books, crayon play aprons, wooden toys, kitchen utensil aprons, play work tools and coloring books depicting Amish life. The purse table will feature pocket purses, hand crafted purses and bags, eye glass cases and cloth book covers. There will be display tables of Halloween and Fall decor as well as Christmas decor and handcrafted ornaments and more. Funds from the sale of the soft sculpture, handcrafted, Christmas ornaments by Barb Bicker of Fish Creek will go to the Fish Creek library.
Back by popular demand is the ever popular Cashew Crunch, a crowd favorite and available while quantities last. Amish noodles, peanut butter and Yoder popcorn will be available again this year.
