Imagine a flock of snowy white doves taking flight, circling your guests and flying off into the horizon. Here’s an imaginative, yet affordable way to personalize your wedding and make it quite unique. Your guests will be amazed and mesmerized with this more memorable and environmentally friendly alternative to flowers or balloons – a dove release.

Door County Wedding Dove Release

Doves have been a symbol of love, fidelity, purity, holiness and freedom since the beginning of time. Doves contribute to life’s celebrations because of the symbolism associated with them. Celebrate your wedding day with a display and release of white doves. Having a display of white doves is guaranteed to add that “something special” to your celebration.

It is said that Doves navigate by the earth’s magnetic field. Gary Thomson‘s doves have a range of about 100 miles and for the safety of the birds, weather is a factor in the release. Also, time of day is another factor as the doves need a few hours of daylight to navigate back to their home. Services are available the year ’round however, there are certain conditions which would prohibit the safe release of birds. These include, but may not be limited to: any kind of storm, heavy rain, snow, dense fog, unusually strong winds and all forms of frozen precipitation. Cold weather does not pose a problem for the birds. They actually love to fly in the brisk air.

The five-piece band plays a variety of styles including Czech, German polkas and waltzes, and modern jitterbug and polka masses.

“Our crowd is old and getting older,” says Jerry Voelker, who has led Jerry Voelker & the Jolly Gents for almost five decades. “I doubt I’ll ever see it come back the way it was. We used to play weddings all the time. The last wedding we played for was in Oshkosh. That must be seven or eight years ago. He was 76 and she was 74.” – from Polka Dotage: Jerry Voelker Is Getting Less Calls to Play Polka by Jim Lundstrom, Peninsula Pulse, September 18, 2015.

  • Bring pictures, your veil, and adornments with you to your styling dry run. Your attendants may also bring pictures as well.

  • Wear a button-down, wide-necked top.

  • Arrive ten minutes prior to service so we can keep the group on schedule.

  • We recommend nail services be scheduled for a day or two before your event.

  • Relax, sit back and be prepared to be pampered…
