Cellist Hans Christian and violinists Beth Chafey-Hon and Lynn Gudmundsen, members of the elegant Primavera Strings, will perform at Third Avenue Playhouse on Saturday, November 21 at 7:30pm and on Sunday, November 22 at 2 pm.

Lynn Gudmundsen - violin, Hans Christian - cello, Beth Hon - violin
The concert is the first event in TAP’s 2009 Holiday Series. Beginning on Holiday Tree Lighting Weekend in Sturgeon Bay, the series features four shows with a seasonal theme, concluding with the Hagen Family Christmas Concert on December 19.
Hans Christian playfully titled the kick-off program Christmas by the Beach and promises that the format will be a delightful blend of classical music with musical detours into Christmas and show tunes. Both concerts include a special appearance by students of the Door County String Academy.
Christian’s musical journey began with studying the cello as a boy in his native Germany. He soon expanded to playing bass, eventually moving to Hollywood and later to San Francisco. He has worked extensively as a performer and a composer and enjoys a growing recognition for his accomplishments as a producer, player, and engineer.
Beth Chafey-Hon started violin lessons at the age of seven and has loved and played music ever since. Chafey-Hon studied music at San Diego State University and Grossmont College in California. Among the many private teachers she studied with, she was fortunate to have had the opportunity to take lessons from a professor and some students of the Moscow Conservatory. She played violin and viola in recording studios while still in high school and continues to freelance professionally for chamber groups, orchestras, string quartets, and studio work.
Lynn Gudmundsen is firmly entrenched in the Door County music scene. Gifted and artistically generous, Gudmundsen plays with a number of performers including Julian Hagen, Jeanne Kuhns, Eric Lewis and Tommy Burroughs. She recently accompanied Eli Mattson during two shows at Third Avenue Playhouse. Along with Lloyd Michalson, she founded the Door County Bluegrass Camp in 2008 and is currently planning its third season.
The program will also feature students from the Door County String Academy. Under the direction of Lori Meyer, the Academy offers string instruction to students in grades 3-12, ages 8-18. Students attend Gibraltar, Sevastopol, Sturgeon Bay, Algoma schools or home school and are grouped into levels based on years of study and ability.
