Perhaps we can feature a follow up article on local farmers and grocers like Greens 'n Grains (http://greens-n-grains.com/) in Egg Harbor who not only support local organic farmers by selling their fresh vegetables in the store, but who are also undertaking a large scale organic farming operation of their own as part of the store's mission. I loved to discover your blog and hope you will pick it up again... http://100milefoodchallenge.blogspot.com/

If a locavore is not strictly eating local foods, and will accept, say, 50% local ingredients in a restaurant meal, there are many other possibilities for eating out in Door County. At the Sustainability Fair in April several local restaurants featured local food items. In addition to the restaurants mentioned here, were the Whistling Swan and the Wild Tomato. The latter restaurant regularly features a "Donation Creation" pizza, part of the proceeds of the sale of which is contributed to local non-profit organizations. Contributing to community is an integral part of sustainable business. The Washington Hotel has a history of sourcing ingredients from farms and fisheries on Washington Island. Cherry pie and whitefish are common menu items at many local restaurants. If these restaurants would also acquire their potatoes, grains, and salad greens from local sources, a locavore would have many choices for eating out in Door County.
