The Door County Community Foundation maintains a comprehensive list of more than 325 charities and tax-exempt organizations based in Door County. For the first ever, this list is being made publicly available as a part of the Community Foundation’s website at www.doorcountycommunityfoundation.org.

“Door County is a special place,” says Bret Bicoy, President & CEO of the Door County Community Foundation. “There is a spirit that keeps us here – or draws us back each year. So it’s no surprise that Door County is also home to countless people who are working hard to sustain our quality of life.”
There are over 325 charities, associations, service clubs, and other citizen groups serving our community.
“In an effort to help connect people who care with the causes that matter,” says Bicoy, “we are sharing with the community our list of Door County based tax-exempt organizations.”
The list was compiled through a good faith search of tax returns filed with the Internal Revenue Service and a review of other publicly available documents. Of course, given the difficulty of maintaining such a comprehensive database, there may be the occasional error or oversight. If you discover one, submit your corrections to webmaster@doorcountycommunityfoundation.org.
“As you peruse the list online, think of contacting the Volunteer Center of Door County to learn more about volunteer opportunities,” says Bicoy. “Please consider including some of these worthy organizations in your estate plans. Speak with your estate planning professional or contact the Community Foundation to learn how. We hope that you too will give back to sustain the community we love.”
The Door County Community Foundation was founded in 1999. It combines the charitable gifts of many to provide leadership and financial leverage in addressing the current and future needs of Door County. Differentiating the Community Foundation from other philanthropic options is a high degree of personalized service for its donors. At its most basic, the Door County Community Foundation is a simpler, cheaper, more tax-efficient alternative to creating your own private foundation.
