Tickets are now on sale for the 16th annual Door County Lighthouse Walk. The popular event, which draws lighthouse enthusiasts from throughout the country, has moved from its traditional mid-May dates to the second weekend in June this year. Along with the change come some new boat trips, which include a few rare opportunities to see Door County’s unmatched collection of maritime sentinels.

The Walk weekend is June 13-14 with activities already beginning on the preceding Friday. The two-day Walk ticket permits access to Eagle Bluff Lighthouse in Peninsula State Park; Baileys Harbor Range Lights; the Canal Station grounds and Sherwood Point Lighthouse and grounds in the Sturgeon Bay area; as well as Cana Island Lighthouse near Baileys Harbor. Due to inadequate parking, access to Cana will be by shuttle bus from the Baileys Harbor Town Hall. While awaiting the next shuttle bus, visitors will be treated to the nationally renowned Great American Lighthouse Collection by artist Donna Elias. Donna will be on hand to sign prints and discuss her work with the public.

Adult tickets for the Walk are available for a discounted price of $12 through May. Thereafter through Walk weekend, they will sell for $15. Children’s tickets remain $5 throughout the sale. Call 920.743.5958 or visit www.dcmm.org to purchase tickets or obtain a Lighthouse Walk brochure.

Tickets are also available for the assortment of boat tours, some of which begin on Friday. New this year is a Shoreline Charter Cruise from Sister Bay on Friday and Sunday out past Chambers Island with a return trip offering a spectacular view of Eagle Bluff Lighthouse. Shoreline is also offering a popular tour from the past on Saturday which will leave Gills Rock and head into Death’s Door passage past both Plum and Pilot Island lights.

The popular Island Clipper tour out of Gills Rock heads into Michigan water Saturday and Sunday past St. Martin and Poverty Island lights before stopping at Rock Island and then past Plum and Pilot Islands. Also back from last year is the Salmon Depot tour out of Baileys Harbor. This tour has multiple departure times from Friday through Sunday and heads past Cana Island with a rare close-up view of the Old Baileys Harbor “Birdcage” Lighthouse at the mouth of the harbor.
