Why everyone needs a daily dose of Door…

It’s Saturday. The sky is clear and blue. Michael Feldman is broadcasting live from the DC Auditorium here in Fish Creek. Tickets are $35 dollars. I am listening to him on the radio. He just killed a Hine’s Emerald Dragon Fly to open the show… and is managing to insult gays, joke about water quality issues and pretend to be too poor to afford Door.

I woke up this morning realizing what the missing ingredient is! DDD… a daily dose of what else? Doorism. Daoism, the Doorway? Here you have it. The X-factor, a place to put all of the stuff I once published in a separate blog at doorpeninsula.blogspot.com. I get e-mail, news clips, hear rumors and gossip each day on Door County and its delightful population, often late-breaking or fleeting. You will find it here.

As I polish out this new site and work to expand out readership, I also want to extend a welcome to other writers and citizen journalists to sign on and share… and one of my favorite’s is Tom Bridenhagen. On Friday I was walking down the Main street in Fish Creek and started chatting with two women, one from Canada and the other from New York. The Manhattanite asked me what happened since she was last here, more than a decade ago, “Where did it go?”

I told her, “It’s still here, north of Sister Bay,” and recommended a visit to Washington Island. Tom Bridenhagen knows where it is and tells about it in his short stories. I am pleased to provide you with one of his latest works, Chirpy Farr. And, I hope you will click on his name and friend him in Facebook.
